It links the village to the beach, and in summer the boat to the wreck leaves from its canal next to the Obelisk.
About the place
The lake is a liman, an old valley mouth closed off by sand, covering about 7 hectares with shallow water. The strip of sand separating it from the sea is about 1.5 km long. The water is salty, and a thick layer of mud has built up on the bottom.
Villas, terraces and the Summer Theatre stand on its shores, with the Obelisk on the sea side. In summer a motorboat leaves from the landing stage by the canal and goes out to sea to the wreck, a trip of about 40 minutes; in 2026 it was already running on 1 May. Footpaths, cycle lanes and a viewpoint have been announced for the lakeshore.
Good to know
- The boat to the wreck runs only in season; ask at the landing stage near the Obelisk for departure times.
- The For You terrace, next to the Summer Theatre, looks over the lake.
- The Costinești Tabără rail halt is right by the lake's western shore, if you come by train.
